Kerala backwaters and other ‘stuff’

We have been in India six days. Our skin smells of sweat and spices and the fingernails on our right hands are yellow with turmeric. The heat and humidity is making our hair curl and we’ve started doing the endearing yet not always helpful Indian head wobble. It means, yes, or no, or maybe, or thankyou, or I don’t know. At the very least it means ‘I heard you and I acknowledge you said something and this is my reply.’

The kids look like they’ve been eating with their fingers all their lives. I wonder why? Oh yes, despite our food and eating rules, they HAVE been eating with their fingers all their lives!

Yesterday we went on a tourist boat ride on the famous Kerala backwaters. Check out the pictures

Penang – same same but different

Well, we are right back where we started, nearly a year ago.

Last November, we arrived in Penang after a few quick days of therapy appointments for Sparky in Singapore. Our train from KL was cancelled and we got an overpriced bus that landed us in no mans land at the mercy of extortionate taxi drivers x2.

We had shaved heads and were travel greenies. We stayed in a backpackers for $55 a night and didn’t know where to go for breakfast. We paid too much for a T-shirt that ended up shrinking the first time we washed it. We were still using our baby porta cot and sterilizing water.

We were in recovery from the madness of packing up our home and stuff and quitting work and leaving school.

but this time it was really different. Have a look!
