Dropping in home

Being ever so close to Australia in Bali, and air tickets to Perth being only  $50 each, we thought we’d pop home for a couple of weeks and see the family. And eat cheese.

Popping home was a great idea but 2 1/2 weeks wasn’t long enough.  We had so many stupid little errands to run and bits of mucking around to do, we felt rushed and stressed. These are now unfamiliar feelings for us, and we don’t like them! We don’t want to get used to them again!

However, we spent lots of time with family and it was lovely.

Our kids have 7 cousins, and we saw lots them all.

There was time for Sparky’s wheelchair to have a few repairs done,

And we undid those Bali braids.

We stocked up on medical gear and thermal underwear for Mongolia.  We went to the beach and enjoyed the sunshiny perfection that is a Perth winter.

We really loved going back to our church three times, it was like we never left.

We also felt that we were not ready to move home yet, and not just because of the ridiculous price of groceries, petrol and just about everything else.  Far out! how do people make ends meet in Australia? It’s so much cheaper to travel than to live in Australia with a house and a car! I’m planning to write more about our budget for traveling. Any specific questions? Please let me know in the comments below.

No, we still have places we want to go together, things we want to do together. Fortunately our saving are lasting out well and our legs and backs are holding up. Our kids have the travel bug and keep adding to our inspired list of destinations. They don’t want to go back to school and have asked us to continue homeschooling with them, and we’ve agreed.

Thanks so much to all the family and friends who lent us beds, houses and warm clothes, much appreciated!

Thanks also to all of you who told us that you read our little stories, we are privileged to share them with you!

See you later, Perth, We’ll be back!

So glad you got to come home for a bit. Was there a bit of reverse culture shock for you all? Or was it too brief to kick in? I’m amazed that travelling is cheaper than living in Australia. Just read a paragraph out to my husband I was so amazed. (LOL). Food for thought as always, Jill. Hope your time at home was replenishing. Looks like lots of family time was good for the kids.

    … aaaah, so many kids!

I love the fact that Tintin is helping with all of Sparky’s things. And Meena’s hair still looks fantastic! Kisses and hugs to all of you!
