Teaching our children ‘there’s a time and a place’

Step one

watch this  seven times

Step two

laugh till your sides ache and tears run down your cheeks

Step three

go somewhere empty, like a park, or lakeside, or the lounge room

Step four

make up your own

Step five

repeat step two

Step six

have quick discussion about where and when its ok to do step four, and brainstorm where its NOT ok eg

when renting an apartment,

when trying not to get kicked out of said apartment

when going thru immigration

when in even slightly posh restaurant,

on really crowded footpaths, ergo all Thai footpaths

Step seven

repeat step four ’til bedtime.

By the way, if you think it’s insensitive of us to do all this, when we have a child who can’t walk, let me say this. Firstly, thanks for even having the thought, when anyone stops to think of Sparky’s needs and interests, we are really appreciative. Secondly, don’t worry. She has a wicked sense of humour, if there’s one thing that cracks her up more than Grandma dropping things or Dad losing things or Mum saying yet another bad word, its her own efforts to walk. She laughs so hard, if she wasn’t already being held up, she would keel right over.

We had a fun day. What did you get up to?

That video is great! Thanks for sharing. I remember having to make up my own funny walk when I was cast in Seussical the Musical as a “who” in whoville a few years ago. Fun stuff!! Now I wish I could do it all over again so I could come up with an even better walk and really get into it a bit more. :)

That was funny! We’re working on our own silly walks and just hurting laughing at ourselves. Thanks for sharing that!
